Flash mob: novas práticas subjetivas e sociais

This work proposal is to analyze the up rise and dissemination of the flash mobs, a movement that gained notoriety by making instant appearances into the modern metropolis urban circuits with no defined purpose. This is the culmination of an essentially on-line articulated and organized process. By identifying the communication system as a fundamental part in the process of socialization, we try to describe how the current information devices act as support to a reformulation in the way people establish interpersonal relationships.

Approaching the question in accordance to the society-technology-subjectivity axle, enabled us to analyze how the classic community concept has acquired new contours before the inauguration of the social bound presented by the on-line environment. Seen as spaces with no connection to the physical space, we demonstrate how the inhabitants had projected their imaginary, experiencing new identities through interactive games. Today we are witnessing a constant connection between the virtual and the physical space, mainly furnished by modern communication technologies that will enable the experimentation of new social practices, like the flash mobs. Therefore, we have based our research both on theoretical and empirical studies.

Key words: communication, new technologies, urban space, flash mob.
